Councillors resolved on Monday night that a report be provided exploring options for more easily accessible information on development applications, especially those that have gone unresolved for more than three months.
It comes after major Wagga developer Graeme Croft of Croft Developers criticised the council for its allegedly "incredibly slow and bureaucratic" process.
Mr Croft is still waiting on a resolution for a development application lodged in late 2018, with council's city development manager Paul O'Brien citing "environmental hurdles" as the cause of the delay.
Councillor Paul Funnell said while there was some information provided on the current council website, he was often contacted by members of the public who could not find what they were looking for.
He said there were often legitimate reasons for the delay in processing applications and it would be helpful to communicate why some applications were taking longer.
During Monday night's council meeting, councillors discussed a model where all development applications that had gone unresolved for 90 days or more would be placed on an easily accessible, public list showing the status of the application and a brief explanation on why it was not yet approved.
The council will provide elected members with a report on options to achieve this at a later meeting.
