The band have been playing at the hall since the 1990s, but upcoming redevelopments to the building will see them move to a new home in the coming weeks.

To mark the occasion, pipe band members met at the beach for a barbecue over the weekend to officially farewell the venue, a reunion for the group after coronavirus restrictions halted their weekly rehearsals.

Pipe band president Ken Lansdown said the venue had been a great place for the band, with plenty of ups and downs to remember.

"It was a great place to have a practice, because people in the caravan park who were on holidays ... so many people came across to listen," he said.

The spot also had its challenges due to its proximity to the river.

"We've been underwater quite a few times with the floods so we've had our issues and we've had our funny times down there," Mr Lansdown said.

"We get players from Kapooka, the RAAF base and the uni so there's been quite a few who have called that place home over the years."

Mr Lansdown said the band had secured a new place for the band's weekly practices which would be announced in the next couple of weeks.

The group will soon resume practice in its new home as eased restrictions put event performances back on the agenda in the coming months.

"We're getting back to practice now with the restrictions being eased a bit and we need to, because there's a few gigs coming up." Mr Lansdown said.
