A man has died in a crash in the southern Riverina, prompting police to appeal for dashcam footage that may unlock what happened.

Police were called to Walla Walla Road, around 40km north of Albury, at 5.30am on Tuesday.
When they arrived, they found a Mitsubishi Mirage had crashed into a tree and through a fence.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.
Police believe the body is that of a 46-year-old man from Wall Walla, though he is yet to be formally identified.
