Whether a final series will take place in the National Premier League ACT division two competition will depend on how quickly the season can begin, with officials shooting for a July 18 start.
But with a number of younger players and veterans in the squad, Fry said a fast start can set them up to make the post-season for the first time.
"I see it as a great opportunity, what I'm expecting is half a season and straight into finals," he said.
"I think it's a great opportunity if we can start on a roll like we did last year and get in those finals positions, we're a couple of games off something special.
"If we can have strong home form, there's four or five games and if you can win those matches it sets it right up."
Coach Michael Babic said a couple of potential quality recruits showed up to training last week and the team handled the new procedures well.
"I was pretty happy with the numbers. There's a couple of new faces who I'm just waiting to sign on who may not have been able to commit pre-COVID. It could be a positive for us to come out of it.
"My understanding is it will be a one round season, the only thing which may change depending on how soon we start is the length of the finals series.
"Potentially if we take too long to start, we may not have finals series.
"The main thing I coach for is the season itself. Finals I do enjoy, but they're more about the players."
Fry said training under the coronavirus restrictions was difficult to adjust to, but said whoever achieves it best could enjoy the benefits when the season begins.
"Obviously the no contact was a bit different, and I guess unnatural, to what we normally do," he said.
"Everyone's touch was a bit off, but that's to be expected. I haven't heard word on when we're back to full contact training, but hopefully that's soon."
