Colvin is set to take just the one runner to Corowa on Tuesday with Zarsnip to line up in the A&A Automotive Class One Handicap (1000m).
Colvin is set to scratch Mahsinger, who has ran second at her past three starts, and keep her for Narrandera on Saturday instead.
Zarsnip broke through for his maiden victory first-up this preparation, and has been around the mark ever since with two third placings at his last two starts.
Colvin hopes the booking of McDougall is a good guide to his chances, with NSW's leading country rider not having ridden for the stable in months.
McDougall and Colvin enjoyed a lethal strike rate when the hoop first moved to the region and will reunite on Tuesday on Zarsnip.
"Blaike on will be good," Colvin said.
"We haven't been getting together for a while. We had a lot of luck when he first moved down here, I had a chat to him the other day and it's good to get him back on."
Zarsnip has drawn a little wide in barrier 10 but Colvin expects the four-year-old to be thereabouts at the finish.
"I think he'll be right in that," he said.
"His last couple of runs have been good. He's been working well and he's ready to go."
The class one looms as an interesting race at Corowa on Tuesday.
The top-weight, Tim Donnelly's Would Be King, made a winning start to his time in the region with a strong first-up victory at Albury last month.
Jerilderie trainer Phil Sweeney has also accepted with Lady Brook, a three-year-old filly who won by four and a half lengths on debut at the Wagga Riverside track last month.
"The one of Tim's will be hard to beat," Colvin said.
"That being in the race got a bit of weight off our back. He didn't draw real good either, next to us, but he'll be the one to beat."
Donnelly will take a strong hand to Corowa on Tuesday.
Iggy The Moocher will have his first start for the stable in the Waldrons Fresh On The River IGA Benchmark 66 Handicap (1000m).
The striking chestnut finished a close second in the MTC Guineas at Wagga in 2018 for Bjorn Baker when carrying 61 kilograms, and has won three of his 15 career starts.
He enjoyed a quiet trial at Wagga on May 30 and was scratched from Wagga last Friday in preference for this race.
Donnelly has been happy with him since his arrival and expects a forward showing.
Both horses are owned by Richard Pegum and will be ridden by Donnelly's apprentice, Heni Ede.
The first of seven races is at 12.20pm.
