VACANT SHOPS A BAD SIGN

There are 24 empty shops in Baylis Street from the council chambers to the railway station. There are also numerous empty shops in Fitzmaurice Street and throughout the rest of the CBD.
If two people worked in each of those shops, there would be over a hundred more jobs in the city.
The best thing we can do is stop buying online and start buying locally.
Like the saying, don't ask what your city can do for you, ask what you can do for your city.
If you want jobs for your children and grandchildren, you must support your community.
According to Bloomberg, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has made $5 billion in the last three months, bringing his total wealth to over $140 billion.
He doesn't need your support, your local businesses do.

TRUMP'S PRIORITIES ALL WRONG
To the most incapable president in the world. Ever.
How about outlawing the fascist, racist groups and not those opposing them?
Isn't that what the Second World War was all about?

POLITICS HITS NEW 'LOW POINT'
We have known for about 13 years that the political interests of the Coalition in Adelaide have dictated the politically driven Murray-Darling Basin Plan.
However, it was still refreshing to have this publicly admitted this week by the National Party's Member for Nicholls Damian Drum.
Surely this must be the catalyst for his leader and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack to resign?
How can he stay in his privileged position when there is an admission that he is allowing family farmers and rural communities to be destroyed because he won't stand up to the Prime Minister?
It is no secret that the basin plan is an unmitigated disaster.
Report after report has shown this to be the case; the only thing lacking has been the will of government to do anything about it.
Mr Drum's comments perhaps also explain why the Liberal Party's Member for Farrer and Environment Minister Sussan Ley has become less vocal on the need for basin plan change, especially since being re-elected last year.
Like The Nationals, her stance is extremely disappointing, especially now when she should have influence as a cabinet minister.
Politics is a nasty game.

It is at a low point when people are made to suffer because votes in marginal seats are considered more important than their livelihoods.
But it is at its worst when those elected to protect their traditional heartland instead bow to their political superiors.
Every complicit National Party politician - in particular the party's parliamentary leader - should hang their head in shame.
