Wagga's Forum 6 Cinema general manager Craig Lucas hopes to be back up and running by the end of July, though the NSW government is yet to announce an exact date.
The challenge, according to Mr Lucas, will be selecting from a limited number of new releases as film distributors contend with markets frozen by the coronavirus lockdown.
"All your major releases with your major studios, and the majority of them are Hollywood ... they're saying the vast majority of the world has to be open before they start releasing titles again," Mr Lucas said.
In the Forum 6 foyer hang posters for films that were supposed to open in Australia two months ago but were postponed, in some cases indefinitely.
"Movies were still being finished. But there was nothing to release them into," Mr Lucas said.
"I think cinema's actually in a really good space. Because there are a lot of good movies out there."

He hopes to re-open triumphantly with the new spy blockbuster Tenet, which director Christopher Nolan is reportedly determined to release next month.
But the cinema also caters for more niche tastes including dedicated movie-buffs and the 60-odd "opera crowd".
The Forum 6 candy bar has been open during the pandemic to allow people to maintain some of their familiar rituals.
"Realistically revenue is still nothing compared to what we normally are," Mr Lucas said.
"You're not doing it for the money. You're just doing it to give people the opportunity to get a choc top."
