The number of weekly Wagga to Sydney return flights will increase from two to six by the end of June, with further increases being considered later in July pending further government announcements.
Qantas previously had 26 return flights between Sydney and Wagga, pre-covid.
Qantas is also increasing their domestic services across Australia, with a capacity increase from 5 per cent of pre-Coronavirus levels, to 15 per cent by the end of June.
They have indicated they could potentially increase to up to 40 per cent of their pre-pandemic domestic capacity by the end of July, depending on travel demand and further relaxation of state borders.
Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce said demand for air travel had begun to make a resurgence, which had prompted them to scale up their services.
"We know there is a lot of pent up demand for air travel and we are already seeing a big increase in customers booking and planning flights in the weeks and months ahead," Mr Joyce said.
"The one million people who work in tourism around Australia have been really hurting over the past few months. These additional flights are an important first step to help get more people out into communities that rely on tourism and bring a much-needed boost to local businesses."
Coronavirus restrictions still apply to the airlines, and Qantas will be doing contactless check-in, enhanced cleaning, and offering masks and sanitising wipes to all fliers.
As a result of the additional flying, both airlines will be standing up more employees to operate and support these services.
However the majority of Qantas employers remain stood down, since the network remains significantly below pre-coronavirus levels.
