Yesterday's announcement of eased coronavirus-enforced restrictions came to the delight of 120-kilogram bodybuilder Rohan McGregor, who said he was keen to be back in the gym and pumping iron.
"Working out at home is just not the same as pushing those heavier weights," Mr McGregor said.
"I'm really looking forward to the gym opening, and I think my wife is going to be very happy that I'm going back as well - less cranky."
Workout Wagga will be among the first gyms to reopen on June 13, and owner Jared Kahlefeldt said he was "pumped" to be back in business.
Mr Kahlefeldt said he was most looking forward to reuniting with the gym friends he'd made during his workout sessions.
"They're a big part of our life, people that we see every day and every week who we haven't seen for nearly three months," he said.
"It will be good to have our community back together and seeing some happy, friendly, smiley faces."
Simp-Lee Yoga instructor Amanda Myers said she was "over the moon" to resume her yoga classes, after having livestreamed her sessions for nearly three months.
She will only be allowed to have 10 people per class, but Mrs Myers said she would continue livestreaming the sessions for those who can't make it.
"I've done that to keep the students inspired and motivated and disciplined with their practice," she said.
"Keeping active is so vital to people's health, physically, mentally, and emotionally."
Wagga Anytime Fitness will also be opening at the earliest opportunity on June 13, with preparations already underway for a grand reopening.
Owner Tim Kanellopoulos said the announcement came as a pleasant surprise for gym operators everywhere, who had not been expecting the state government to relent so soon.
"Up until this [yesterday] morning we had no indication gyms would reopen," Mr Kanellopoulos said. "I'm really excited NSW has gone that way, and I think it's a step in the right direction."
Certain social distancing rules still apply, with caps of 100 people per gym and 10 people per exercise class enforced throughout the state.
The Oasis Aquatic Centre will reopen its doors on June 15 with restrictions in place, and Wagga City Council will be updating the community about the restrictions when details are released.
Under-18 community sporting groups and children's competitions will resume on July 1.
