Both the Hoppers and Tigers' senior groups returned to training on Thursday night with strong numbers a highlight at both clubs.
Coolamon pre-planned for a senior squad of 30 to train and co-coach Jamie Maddox said there was plenty of excitement at Kindra Park.
"It was a bit different but yeah it was good," Maddox said.
"For the first one with the new restrictions and stuff it all went pretty well, as planned. The boys loved it, we had a ball.
"I've had some really good feedback today and last night around it and how we did it and what we did. Just touching the footys again and having a bit of a run. The boys were all super keen, they were good."
The Hoppers were also able to use the club's junior ground at Kindra Park to give each training group of 10 plenty of space.
Maddox said having a number of leaders within the Coolamon group helped with the unprecedented style of training.
"We'll be better for the run in that knowing how it's all going to work," he said.
"In terms of where we're at, I'm quite lucky that obviously I've got (co-coach) Jake (Barrett), Jake and I do to it, and I lent on the leaders a little bit as well, our leadership group. I had Joe and Luke Redfern take a group. I'm lucky there that we've got a few leaders to help out."
Wagga Tigers had 34 at training and were able to spread four groups out over Bolton Park and Robertson Oval.
The Riverina League premiers welcomed the opportunity to get back on the paddock, according to coach Troy Maiden.
"It was different but really good," Maiden said.
"It was really good to see them running around and having a bit of a laugh.
"Last night was nothing too serious, just a matter of getting back together. We also covered off on a bit of education about what we have to do. We separated into our groups straight away and then went over that stuff, but it was good. They seemed to have fun and that's what we wanted.
"Some of them probably hadn't seen each other for a couple of months. There was guys there that I hadn't seen for a couple of months, so that was good. Everyone was just happy to be out running around."
It kicked off a strong opening week of returning to training in the Riverina League.
Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong led the charge and kicked off on Monday night and others clubs were quick to follow.
