Coming off a debut victory at Wagga last week, Samshu lines up in the Caltex On Fernleigh (320m) at the same track on Sunday.

While Clare wasn't thrilled with how she left box seven last week, he knows the bitch has plenty of promise.

"She went really well," Clare said.

"She has a really fast first section but she missed it last week as with the way we have to box them she was in the boxes a bit long.

"She come from second last and went through them but normally she is a really good beginner.

"This time she's drawn the six box, which probably isn't good for a young dogs, but she should go alright."

Samshu is one of three last-start winners in the race.

Clare is looking to better than the 18.66 she ran on debut and is confident she can.

"She is only young and is going to turn into a really nice little greyhound," he said.

"As soon as you step up in grade you always find it a bit harder but she is a classy little girl. If she begins on terms I don't think they will catch her."

Clare also lines up Nangus Road across the 10-race card.

However with his knack for running third, after finishing there in nine of his 35 starts, Clare is far from confident despite an unlucky effort last time out.

"He's a funny dog and has all the ability in the world but just doesn't show it," he said.
