The future is starting to look positive, with the government making plans to ease restrictions.
The theatre has been busy making plans for the day it can reopen, with fresh and exciting entertainment to share.
The response of ticket holders has been overwhelmingly understanding and positive.
It is tremendously clear that the community wants to get back to live events.
These are unprecedented times for all of us, and having a dark theatre is not exactly what the theatre had planned for 2020.
But in true theatre spirit, the show does go on behind the closed doors.
Theatre staff are working closely with the theatre, events and sporting industries to develop a safe work plan with the government.
For now, while the stage may be empty, the theatre is not resting.
The team is continuing to speak with producers and artists to bring the wonderful shows they were planning back to our city soon.
They are working with local artists and colleagues to rethink how entertainment can be delivered under new restrictions.
They are implementing new processes, reviewing operations and spending time meticulously cleaning and upgrading the theatre so that it is sparkling and ready when the time comes.
The timelines are still unknown, but theatre staff are strengthened by the public's support and well wishes.
Exciting things are ahead. Staff will continue to provide updates as restrictions are eased and a safe path is laid.
There are still shows on sale and the theatre will be making announcements on its website when the plan for reopening is confirmed.
