Officers from Riverina Police District attempted to stop a Ford Falcon sedan on Marrar Rd about 9.30am on Monday.
Wagga Police Inspector John Aichinger said the vehicle was already on the police's radar for it's suspected involvement in offences committed last week.
"The vehicle is believed to have be involved in a couple of incidents over the past seven days, including driving erratically and also being involved in another pursuit," he said.
Yesterday's pursuit, reaching speeds of up to 170km/h, was terminated and reengaged for safety, with the final leg leading the vehicle into a police ambush.
"Police engaged in a pursuit towards Currawarna into the reserve and along the river, then coming back onto Old Narrandera Road and heading towards Wagga," Inspector Aichinger said.
"Numerous police vehicles were involved in setting up road spikes waiting for that vehicle, but it didn't get that far."
Inspector Aichinger said the vehicle ran out of fuel and came to a stop along Old Narrandera Road.
"Police arrested three persons in the car, two males and a female," he said.
"The female has since been released - she is known to the two men but at this stage she has not been identified as committing any offences."
The two men were both identified as being in breach of bail, and have been charged for doing so.
"At this stage, the driver has also been charged for today's offences and further inquiries will be made into his possible involvement in other incidents which occurred earlier in the week," Inspector Aichinger said.
The vehicle has not been reported as stolen, but police allegedly found a replica firearm and three sets of other motor vehicle registration plates in the car.
