Mathew and Lauren Oates of CNL Catering have stepped away from Dine at Wagga RSL and the Commercial Club Bar and Grill after six years to focus on their family and other businesses.
The couple, who also own the Commercial Hotel Junee, and the Riverina Hotel Holbrook, were due to leave the RSL and Commercial Club in November.
However, Mr Oates said the coronavirus-imposed shutdown meant it was better timing to bring the move forward, finishing up last Sunday to give the new caterers a "fresh start".
"We were getting to that stage where we wanted to spend a bit more time with our kids and get away from the stress of having 60 staff," he said.
Mr Oates said due to coronavirus they had been able to spend their first Anzac Day with their children, and serve Lauren her first Mother's Day breakfast in bed in lieu of working on the big breakfast traditions at the club.
"We've looked at those little milestones and just decided we'd like to start enjoying some of that now rather than waiting until November," he said.
Mr Oates said he was grateful to the club for their support over the years, along with the customers who had trusted them to be a part of major life events such as weddings and birthdays as caterer.
"It's pretty special when people trust you with those once in a lifetime events, so we've always tried to make sure they're as special as possible," he said.
Wagga RSL and Commercial Club general manager Andrew Bell said the club was currently interviewing potential replacements, having started the process about two months ago.
"We hope to have a decision within about three weeks," he said.
He wished Mathew and Lauren well in their future endeavours.
"It's been a very success relationship, Mat and Lauren have done a great job for the club and we wish them every luck for the future," he said.
