Murrumbidgee Police District started an investigation in August 2017 following reports that a girl had been sexually assaulted by a man known to her in the 1990s.
At 8.20am on Tuesday, detectives arrested a 54-year-old man north of Dubbo, and he was charged with 10 counts of sexual intercourse with a person under their authority aged between 10 and 16 years old.
Police will allege the man sexually assaulted the girl who was then aged between 13 and 16.

It is alleged the incidents took place at a school in Hillston and other locations within the Murrumbidgee area between 1993 and 1996.
The man was granted strict conditional bail and will face Griffith Local Court on June 10.
