The Townsend family were "absolutely thrilled" to be reunited with their nine-week-old Cavoodle Theo on Saturday after making a desperate plea for his safe return last week.
Theo had been taken from the home in the middle of the night just over a week ago, but was found abandoned on the Olympic Highway.
The mother Leanne Townsend said that if it was not for the community's support and concern, their puppy would not have returned home to them.
In other news:
"Our daughter was in tears when he was returned to us," she said.
"We are so grateful for the concern shown and I think this touched a lot of people because they could understand how close you can get with your pets."
Riverina Police District Inspector John Aichinger said the puppy was located at an address at The Rock. He said it was good news that it has been returned to its owner.
