Wood was named Community Coach of the Year in what was her first ever nomination for the accolade.
The Cricket Albury-Wodonga female coordinator and representative coach said the honour took her by surprise.
"I thought there would definitely be a lot of people out there who are doing the same kind of thing, but I thought someone else would be recognised, not me," Wood said.
"It was definitely a bit of a surprise.
"You don't do coaching and these sorts of things for accolades, you just do it.
"I just love cricket and love coaching."
Wood, who is a current Bush Breaker, coached the Border Bullets in the inaugural T20 NSW Women's Regional Bash this season and is a Cricket Blast coordinator for the Corowa Cricket Club.
When not playing or coaching you can also find her umpiring.
Earlier this year she was one of 27 female ambassadors invited to attend the Cricket Australia Female Coach Project, where she was able to attend the ICC Women's T20 World Cup grand final.
"It was amazing," she said.
"We spent all day collaborating with female coaches from all over Australia to work towards how to get more women involved in coaching and what some of the road blocks are they can come up against in a very male dominant sport.
"With more women's games in the media, there's obviously more drive for girls and women to play, and then women want to step into coaching roles.
"It's great to have male coaches and I think they bring a different avenue.
"But women and a lot of girls want to be coached by women."
Wood is now in the running for the national A Sport for All awards, which is set to be announced online by Cricket Australia this month.
Wood is also in her first year as an A-grade Lavington netball coach, with the Ovens and Murray season still on hold due COVID-19.
