Slated to begin in May, the works were intended to completely revitalise and transform the Forsyth Street family store, turning it into something of a "community hub".
Due to restrictions on retail gatherings, the op-shop store has had to be temporarily closed.

Despite the downturn in operations, however, the recently-arrived mission co-ordinator Ros Robinson indicated that there has been a dramatic increase to walk-ins.
Although she would not comment on the exact number of presentations, over the past six weeks of economic collapse, Ms Robinson said there has been a "fivefold increase" in support-seekers.
"[M]ore than three-quarters of these are seeking assistance for the first time," Ms Robinson said.
According to Ms Robinson, there may be avenues to return to normal operations in the op-shop next month, which will further serve the charity's ability to help the community.
"As we work to re-open we have additional operational processes we have needed to address that seek to minimise the health risk during the course of this current pandemic," Ms Robinson said via a statement to The Daily Advertiser.
"There is the possibility of re-opening in June, however, we do not have a definite date at this stage."
When works begin on the storefront, it will represent the first major change to the premise since the Salvos relocated from Edward Street in 2015.
Once operations can continue, Ms Robinson said she hopes the city will be able to take ownership over its direction.
"With this initiative, we will be inviting the community to come in and share their ideas on a community board. It will be a space to put forward an idea without judgement," Ms Robinson said.
"For example, someone may have an interest in cycling and have a few friends wanting to join a group but not have the resources, knowledge or base to set it up."
