Hilly and The Ideal Dancer have both come up with the plumb draw in their heats at Riverina Paceway on Friday.
The Ideal Dancer is out to go one better after a second behind Rocky Creed in the first round of heats last week.
The draw gives the Wagga trainer more confidence.
"We weren't actually going to run as we were guaranteed a place in the major consolation after running second," Kahlefeldt said.
"But my son Spud (Justin), who parts owns him, said we should at least give him a crack and if he draws good we would run him around and if not we always had the option of scratching him to save him for the consolation but he will definitely go around.
"He should put in a good effort."
The Wagga trainer believes older son Jared has plenty of options in the third heat from the draw.
"He has the gate speed and Jared will work out whether to hold the lead or hand up," Kahlefeldt said. "It is a reasonably strong heat, but not as strong as some, particularly heat five, so he has options there with his speed."
His second last week ended a string of five unplaced efforts following his win at Leeton in March.
While unsure if the 2270 metres really suits, Kahlefledt was pleased to see him back putting in a better performance.
"He will be right in the finish I'm sure and I'm expecting him to go well," he said.
"He's pulled up good and worked good (on Wednesday).
"We've been setting him for this and he will be competitive for sure and whether he is up to the really good ones who have already qualified I don't know, but it would be good to get a runner in the final for sure."
A winner two starts back, Hilly has also drawn barrier one after finishing fourth last week.
Kahlefeldt believes he is working the best of his team.
"I don't know what is up to him but he seems to be getting better and better," he said.
"He hasn't had a really good draw for a while I don't think but we are pretty much blessed with gate one for him.
"He's got a bit of gate speed too so Jared will have some options."
Kahlefeldt believes he will be improved from last week, when he was beaten 41.1 metres by Whereyabinboppin.
"He got held up a little bit and was a little bit sore over the back" he said.
"Ellen (Bartley) worked on him this week and got him pretty much right again.
"He tends to go off after a few starts with a little bit of a back issue, he's getting up a little in age now, but her working on him has been a blessing as she does such a wonderful job."
Kahlefeldt also lines up Seattle Trace in the fourth heat.
She finished ninth last week and has drawn 10.
"It is very hard for the fillies against those strong boys," he said. "I think she will just go around but then again she can surprise and it's not an overly strong heat either."
