Mystery still surrounds the prospect of football and netball going ahead in 2020, with the AFL to issue an update next week that is likely to determine the fate of local seasons.
Savage, like most club officials, believes crowds must be allowed to attend for any season to get off the ground. But if the green light is given, he says Narrandera will be good to go.
"I think most of the players are hoping there's a season," Savage said.
"I'm sitting on the fence at the moment, I don't know which way to go.
"Whether they're going to allow it to go ahead, the AFL won't have a crowd but we have to. Financially, I don't think we can without one. With all the businesses struggling, you can't raise money to support the club that way. I think we're in a catch 22 situation, where we can't really go ahead without a crowd.
"But for our town, I know a lot of players are really keen to get something ahead, they're missing it, so for that point and all of our members, if we can get a season going, Narrandera will be part of it definitely.
"It just depends on what they put up."
Savage said he would ideally like to see more than one round of games played this year. He believes the longer the season, the better.
"It would be good to have more than one round, if we get it going," he said.
"The late finish doesn't bother us at all. It's just hard to know when to start up. Financially, we're sitting ok at the moment but if you do start up, without any sponsorship from the community and township, it's going to be hard."
