The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for damaging winds that is likely to affect Wagga, Griffith and Albury.
The bureau states that a line of thunderstorms is being generated across inland NSW as a cold front crosses the region.
Strong gusts of wind reaching 93 kilometres an hour have been observed at Deniliquin.
In other news:
A severe weather warning is still in place for the Snowy Mountains region, which is expected to cop heavy rainfall, as well as damaging winds.
The areas that might be affected include Tumbarumba, Selwyn and Tumut.
A Flood watch warning is still in place for the Tumut River with a forecast of heavy rainfall having the potential to cause minor flooding.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
- Move their car under cover or away from trees.
- Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
- Keep at least eight metres away from fallen power lines
- Report fallen power lines
- Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall.
- Unplug computers and appliances.
- Avoid using the phone during the storm.
- Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
- Stay vigilant and monitor conditions.
