Sydney trainer Mark Newnham wants to send his mare to Wagga for the Cup but revealed she will be scratched if the track is any worse than a soft seven.
The grey front-running mare opened as TAB's $4.20 favourite for the Wagga Gold Cup, with Godolphin top-weight Best Of Days attracting early support and firming from $6.50 to outright second favourite at $6.00.
"I'm hoping that she's running. I'm a bit weather dependent with her," Newnham said.
"Her best form is on top of the ground. She performed well just against mares company at Rosehill on slower ground but when she gets on good ground like she did the other day, she's a lot more effective.
"A (soft) six she'll run. I'd say once we got to seven, eight, probably not. It will be unfortunate but it's a long way to go if you're not going to run to your best.
"I'd love to run her. Wagga, it's a good track, it's always a good race. A good friend of mine, Tim Donnelly, she can go down and stay with him overnight. Stay there and come back. It will be nice if she can go."
Newnham can understand why his mare has been installed as favourite and is keen to start the group one placegetter should the conditions allow.
"She's well enough weighted down there to be a winning chance," he said.
"The 2000's probably her ideal trip and it's a good race, good prizemoney for these type of horses."
Greysful Glamour, to be ridden by Koby Jennings, would also be the pace in the Cup should she start.
"She's fairly comfortable in front. She goes a good clip, she's not one of those that rely on stacking them up, she likes to bowl along in front and go a good gallop," he said.
"That's her strength, being able to do that."
Newnham's back up option is the Gosford Cup, at Randwick, the following week.
Newnham's two-year-old Mrs Maisel, who is entered for Thursday, will go to Wyong instead.
He will leave a decision until Friday as to whether Gone Bye, the favourite for the MTC Guineas, runs at Wagga or Randwick on Saturday.
The Cup has attracted a full field of 16, plus one emergency.
Meantime, the John O'Shea-trained Southern Lad is the $3.90 favourite for Thursday's $160,000 Wagga Town Plate (1200m), ahead of the well-supported News Girl ($6.50-$4.40) and Lord Von Costa at $6.00.
