A NEW stage of the city's multimillion-dollar cycling network across Wagga has been given the green light by councillors.

Wagga City Council's project delivery manager Rupesh Shah said the next phase will complete 26 kilometres of the commuter cycling network spanning across seven of the 10 links, which includes Red Hill, Bourke, Kooringal, Central, Wollundry, university and Kapooka.
Mr Shah said it was expected that the works will be completed by July this year, leaving 15 kilometres left to finish by 2021.

He said so far 4.5 kilometres of the council's active travel plan has been completed across the Red Hill and Bourke links, which has received positive feedback from the community.
The council's active travel plan will deliver a 45-kilometre commuter cycling network that links the residential parts of the city with the central business district and other key destinations, such as the university in the northern suburbs.
