As it stands only the date to start training, July 1, and the date competitions across the state, July 18, are known following an announcement from NSW Rugby League (NSWRL) last week.

Bidgee region manager David Skinner will be part of a meeting with NSWRL chief executive David Trodden on Tuesday.

Group Nine chairman Peter McDermott hopes it will be able to help answer so many questions the board and clubs have over the landscape for the delayed season.

"It was a pretty broad statement that they (NSWRL) made and there is a hell of a lot that needs to go with it," McDermott said.

"There are so many details and hopefully they can give some better answers on Tuesday morning, but at the end of the day it is still going to be up to the NSW government with what goes on. If they don't lighten the restrictions nothing will change but we can start preparing."

There is a strong sense that a minimum full round of the season before a finals series will be needed.

That would see the season push a month past the original grand final date of September 13.

Group Nine operations manager Bob Hay has already confirmed moving the grand final back is now an option.

However the financial implications of the COVID-19 crisis on clubs is one of the biggest concerns for Group Nine.

The board will meet later this week before giving more information to the clubs.

However after last week's announcement McDermott said he had received little feedback from the clubs.

Most are waiting for more information, particularly concerning restrictions on crowds before putting too many plans in place.

"I've spoken to a couple of people but there has been nothing really," McDermott said. "They are all waiting to here a little bit more as those two dates generated so many questions just from our point of view as the board and I can imagine the clubs are all in the same boat.

"We were hoping something else would come out with a bit more finer detail but that hasn't happened."

Bidgee region chairman Terry Brady, who is a member of the NSWRL board, told The Daily Advertiser last week competitions won't go ahead if spectators are unable to attend.

In their release, NSWRL said the July dates are determined with the expectation the restrictions from the NSW Public Health (COVID-19 Restrictions on Gathering and Movement) Order 2020 will be lifted on June 30.

However the July dates were deemed unsuitable for Group Three, who have been the first country rugby league competition to forgo the 2020 season.

The mid north coast competition, with teams from Port Macquarie, Forster, Old Bar, Taree, Wauchope, the Macleay Valley and Wingham, cited the loss of sponsors was the major contributing factor along with the uncertainty regarding COVID-19.
