Rian Ross Toyer, 32, is charged with manslaughter over the death of Rowell Polan Bruno, who is also known by the first name Mhelody.
The 25-year-old transgender woman was found unresponsive at a Tarcutta Street unit on September 21.
Paramedics conducted CPR and rushed her to Wagga Base Hospital, where she died the next day.
It is alleged Mr Toyer caused Ms Bruno's death by choking her.
He has not yet pleaded to the charge.
In a letter to Wagga Local Court on Wednesday, Mr Toyer's solicitor Zac Tankard asked for the matter to be adjourned due to a delay in completing the brief of evidence.
Mr Tankard said he was waiting on the autopsy. The court heard the delay was due to coronavirus.
Magistrate Christopher Halburd adjourned the matter for eight weeks and the case returns to court on June 17.
Mr Toyer remains on bail.
