Jaiden Warren faced Wagga Local Court this week and admitted to breaking into the home while its occupants slept inside.
According to court documents, the 18-year-old and a co-accused entered the backyard of the property just before 6am last Thursday.
They went into an external laundry, via a closed but unlocked door, took a can of soft drink each from a fridge and went back outside. The incident was captured on CCTV.
The co-accused then allegedly used a pair of garden secateurs to remove a flyscreen and open the kitchen window.
However, a piece of dowel in the window sill meant it could only be opened about 10cm.
One of the occupants was woken by the sound of the window hitting the dowel and came to investigate, prompting the pair to run - with soft drinks in hand.
Police said Warren fled Narrandera after the break-in and was located in Albury on Friday night, riding a pushbike without a helmet along a Lavington street.
He was unable to provide a reasonable excuse for being in the area.
When Warren was asked about the health restrictions, he replied: "I don't give a f--- about that." He was issued a $1000 fine for non-essential travel.
Warren was charged with aggravated break and enter of a dwelling in company, to which he pleaded guilty in court on Monday.
He was given conditional bail and will be sentenced in Narrandera Local Court in August.
The co-accused was arrested after surrendering to police in an irrigation channel in Narrandera on Friday morning.
He also faced Wagga court on Monday charged with multiple offences.
