An update released by Netball NSW last week recommends club netball competitions start on July 18, with no team training sessions to be conducted until at least June 30.
However, it contrasts with guidelines set out by AFL NSW, which at this stage is still sticking to a return date after May 31.
The conflicting commencement dates could see a divide between the two sports in the league.
Hume Netball Association president Carla Fletcher said football and netball teams would still ideally like to be able to begin the season together, whenever that may be.
"We're a league and we'd like to stick together," Fletcher said.
"We'll just keep doing what we're doing until we get the all clear and then we'll sit down with the football and go from there.
"We've just got to try and cover the right bases."
Hume League president Brendan I'Anson agreed a mutual start date would be the desired outcome, with the COVID-19 pandemic still currently restricting sport around the region.
"To run netball by itself without football, it can be done, but with volunteers it might be a little bit too hard," I'Anson said.
Netball NSW recently conducted a survey with Associations nominating their preferred start date, while also looking closely at restrictions set in place by NSW Public Health Orders.
The resulting outcome of a July return would see the start coincide with the end of the state's mid-year school holidays.
The guidelines will be reviewed again no later than June 1 as coronavirus circumstances continue to evolve.
While the Hume league may be impacted, other leagues still look set to have netball and football return in unison.
An update issued by Netball Victoria on April 15 outlined all community netball seasons are still suspended until at least May 31.
This is also the date given by AFL NEB, meaning the Tallangatta and District, Ovens and Murray and Upper Murray leagues could commence their seasons at the same time on both the field and court.
