Superintendent Bob Noble of the Riverina Police District applauded the widespread compliance to social distancing measures across the region over the Easter long weekend.
But, he appealed to the community to continue efforts to stay apart.
"The measures are working and they're working because simply the community has jumped on board. They've accepted them as a new sense of normal for the time being," Superintendent Noble said.
"There's been a very, very low rate of continued infection which is pleasing but it's also not the cause for any complacency or satisfaction on our behalf. Indeed, I think it's now time for us to dig in and re-double our efforts to commit to those measures and to try and fight this event going forward."
