The university club has players spread out across the country due to the coronavirus crisis.
Coach Jonno Andreou is concerned if the delayed season gets under way before classes return at Charles Sturt University they may not be able to play.
"It is our biggest concern and I have spoken to Southern Inland about it," Andreou said.
"Obviously they don't have a firm date, and it is really hard to determine when the uni is going to open, but if there is a case when Southern Inland starts before uni is back then we will have a problem with numbers.
"We haven't really gone into detail as we don't know when to start."
While some numbers of the team, who have been beaten by Waratahs in the last two grand finals, do live in Wagga the majority are students based on campus.
With classes moving online Andreou is unsure how many can return to fill the three men's grades and the women's team.
"We've only got a few older players still around that live in town," he said.
"Most of them are from out of town and if uni does come back later than what the season starts we will have to put a call out for players to come back.
"They can still do online learning in Wagga if they want to play but we haven't really broached that with the club yet as there are so many unknowns."
Andreou has stepped up to the first grade coaching role this season and was pleased to see so many new faces.
Especially with a number of personnel changes from last year's grand final.
He believes it leaves the club is good stead.
"Having 30 first years turn up was massive and it was probably the biggest influx of first years we've had in a number of years," Andreou said. "We still had another of people from the second grade team who made the grand final and will make good first graders in a couple of years so the potential is there."
