The announcement came directly from the Deputy Prime Minister, Michael McCormack, after some concerns were raised by a Wagga family.
"We were wondering how things would operate logistically for the Easter Bunny, considering humans can't travel anywhere or visit people, so we thought - how can animals?" Emma Reynolds said.
The Wagga mum of three posted her query to social media, with Mr McCormack responding Monday morning.
"We've been very busy as a Government making sure that the roads are safe so truckies and the Easter Bunny can make their wonderful deliveries," he said in a video response.
"The other day, I spotted a little bunny in my own backyard, so I've come down to my backyard, and for the Reynolds children and all the other children across the Riverina, I want to show you this hole I found which I believe will be where the Easter Bunny is preparing some of his eggs."
Mrs Reynolds said she and her children, aged seven, eight and nine, were thrilled to know Easter was still on.
The family have been finding new ways to stay connected for the special occasion despite challenges of isolation.
"Since they have been doing their school work from home, they have been tasted with things like drawing pictures that represent Easter, and we've been posting those off to their grandparents who live in Dubbo to share the Easter spirit," she said.
"We've also been putting little Easter eggs in people's mail boxes with notes to keep the spirit alive."
In line with the message behind Lent, the Wagga mum said they had also planted a veggie garden to represent new life as well as tying in with the Easter Bunny's visit.
"We've planted lettuce, carrots and spring onion to appeal to the Easter Bunny's taste, so he gets some special treats too," she said.
"But I think most importantly it shows that if we stick together and do things as a family, the Easter Bunny can do the same with his or her family and we can find some light in this situation."
