Wagga council's commercial director Caroline Angel said the reduction of commercial flights will mean passengers could only access the terminal for arrivals and departures starting Monday.

Ms Angel said the council urges non-passengers to stay away from the airport or limit time spent during pick-ups and drop-off of passengers.

It comes as three Sydney-to-Wagga flights were identified with COVID-19 infected passengers that took place over the span of six days in March.

"The council continues to take responsible steps to limit exposure for the health and safety of all airport staff and community members. This is in line with state and federal guidelines," Ms Angel said.

On Wednesday, mayor Greg Conkey said in a video update that the council was "cleaning the airport twice a day".

"I spoke yesterday about the cleaning of the CBD, which continues; we are also cleaning the airport twice a day and that includes sterilisation of the services out there," Cr Conkey said.

Those suffering acute, cold, flu-like symptoms who have recently returned from travelling or are a contact of a confirmed case are urged to be tested for the virus.
