The Talbot-trained Barry Mundi ($6.00) upstaged kennelmate Winlock Molly ($1.30) to take out the Supporters 1-3 Win 5th Grade Series Final (400m).
A host of scratchings ensured Barry Mundi made the final field after being the second emergency and he made the most of his fortune to go on and score a runaway victory.
While the market suggested Winlock Molly was almost unbeatable, Talbot was not surprised by the result.
"He's a dog that's run 22.9 before. He slipped up the other day in 11.88 so he's been running really good time so I knew if he jumped on the bunny then he'd be hard to beat," Talbot said.
"Winlock Molly was in form but ran 23.08 when winning the other day. Once Barry Mundi found the rail and was on the bunny, I didn't think they would catch him."
With $3500 to the winner and $1000 to second, it was a race worth running one-two in for Talbot.
"It's very good. I didn't care what happened after that," he laughed.
But the day did get better as Talbot managed a race-to-race double with Runaway Tommy's ($2.00) win in the RSM Tax And Consulting Stakes (320m).
Owned by Carl Margariti's Greyhound Junkies syndicate, Runaway Tommy scored at his first start for Talbot.
"I've only had him a month...he's a nice young pup," he said.
"He was ideally drawn out in eight, especially with a few puddles around and he got the job done."
Garry Anesbury, Brian Smith and Raymonds Sims also trained winning doubles on the 10-race TAB card at Wagga.
Tanami Express ($1.06) made it six wins from seven starts in the Interior Constructions Stakes (320m), winning in a time of 18.00.
