While a lot of the news headlines are heavy and extreme, I have found comfort in the good news stories.
The theatre is closed for the time being and, like many, our team are now working from home.
Schools are encouraging us to keep kids home too... so in the past two weeks, I'm sure my life is not the only one to have been flipped upside down somewhat.
We are all together in this strange new world (even while we are apart). I encourage you to access online performing arts as a distraction from the news. Take time to laugh, share, cry and connect with loved ones.
We'd like to thank everyone for being so patient and pleasant as we work through the rescheduling of many events at the theatre.
Here are some answers to the questions that some of you are asking.
How do I find out whether an event is still taking place?
The Civic Theatre website is where you will find the most up to date information on all events that have been rescheduled or cancelled. www.civictheatre.com.au
What happens if my show is cancelled?
If you have tickets to a show that is cancelled, you will be contacted by our boxoffice team by email or phone.
Please be assured that if your event does not go ahead you will receive a full refund in line with our Ticketing Code of Practice.
How do I get a refund?
If your event is cancelled, and you paid for tickets using a credit card, your refund will be automatically refunded back onto that card.
If we have any difficulties or your original payment method was not by credit card, a member of our team will be in contact with you soon to organise the funds to be returned to you.
I have tickets to a performance that has been rescheduled. What do I do?
If you have tickets to events that have been rescheduled, you will be automatically transferred to the new date and will receive an email from us to advise new details. If the new dates do not suit, you are entitled to receive a full refund.
How can I get in touch with someone if the theatre is closed?
The theatre team are currently working remotely, but we are still able to be contacted by email or phone.
The best way to contact us is via email at boxoffice@civictheatre.com.au
Our phones are still operational, so if you prefer to speak with us please call 02 6926 9688. Please bear in mind that the phones have been diverted to mobiles, so if you receive a call from us it will show up as coming from a mobile.
Can I still buy tickets to events at the theatre later in 2020?
Yes! Performances scheduled for later in the year will remain on sale, and you should feel confident purchasing tickets and supporting artists with our assurance that if there are further cancellations you will receive a refund.
What can I do to help?
Stay home and stay safe. But while you are at home, if you want to support our industry, sign up for an online paid concert or get tickets to a performance that is scheduled for later in the year. And when our doors open again, join us. 2021 is shaping up to be bigger than ever!
Where can I get my entertainment fix now that the theatre is closed?
We are doing our best to share as much online entertainment as we can through our Facebook page @waggacivictheatre.
