After reconsideration and a change in stance from the NSW Government and Golf NSW, Wagga Country Club have taken the opportunity to re-open to members only.
Both Wagga Country Club and Wagga City Golf Club closed its courses on Monday on recommendation from Golf Australia and Golf NSW.
But after reconsidering the latest public health orders, the NSW Government's Office of Sport advised Golf NSW that the sport is a form of exercise that can continue, subject to sticking to public gathering limits and social distancing.
Wagga Country Club secretary-manager John Turner issued a statement on Wednesday night informing members of the club's plan to re-open at midday on Thursday.
"In light of the...information the course will re-open tomorrow, Thursday 2nd April at 12.00 noon," the statement read.
"As before, all players must report to the Pro Shop before hitting off."
Wagga Country Club met on Wednesday to discuss the new advice from Golf NSW and created a strict set of guidelines that players must follow.
The club will recommence competition golf on Saturday, in groups of two. The club will also introduce a Sunday morning competition.
The club has requested members to adhere to the 12 guidelines they outlined in the notice and warned failure to do so could force the club to close.
"I ask that you follow the above instructions so we can enjoy golf and make sure that we are doing everything possible in relation to controlling COVID-19," Turner wrote.
Meantime, Wagga City Golf Club will remain closed until Sunday.
Wagga City Golf Club head professional Scott Lennox informed members that a decision will be made on Sunday as to whether the course is re-opened or not.
"The golf course will remain in hybernation until a decision is made on Sunday 5th April afternoon at 5pm to either reopen or continue in its current status," Lennox wrote.
"The safety of staff, members and guests is my major reason for this decision.
"l understand that many of you will be disappointed that your regular game can't be played over the next few days, but please remember you're my family and l don't want to see anyone not with us in the future because of this out of control virus."
