But Riverina-based NRL regional development manager Adam Perry is putting his down time to good use by penning a witty song bemoaning the lack of "footy on the TV".
Perry, who played 133 games for Canterbury and won a premiership with the Bulldogs in 2004, posted a three-minute song on Facebook this week on football's current hiatus.
It's his own spin to the classic 'Lucille' by country music legend Kenny Rogers, who died recently.
The video had already been shared well over 100 times as of Wednesday afternoon.
