Shortly after 7am Wednesday, policed received information that a 27-year-old male - whose arrest they were seeking - was at Quest Apartments on Gurwood Street.
At least five police vehicles were deployed to the scene where they blocked off entry and exit points to the apartment block, as well as the surrounding streets.
Wagga police inspector Adrian Telfer said the tactical police unit was called in due to the public risk and volatile nature of the individual.
"Over a very short negotiation period, we were able to safely arrest a 27-year-old male from Ashmont," he said.
"The man is currently being detained at Wagga Police Station where he will be charged for two outstanding warrants."
Inspector Telfer said the man faces initial charges over a "very serious, very violent" domestic violence matter in Ashmont earlier in the month.
"Police will allege to the court that the domestic violence incident in Ashmont, March 2020, involved a person known to the offender... and the individual was hospitalised," he said.
"We'll also put the allegation forward that he was involved in a police pursuit, which occurred about 10 days ago and presented significant concerns to public safety."

Wagga Public School was also put into lockdown as police dealt with the situation.
"Earleir today, for the safety of students and staff, Wagga Public School followed the advice of police," a spokesperson for the Department of Education said.
"As a result, all students and staff who were at school today were safe at all times, and students' parents were advised."
Inspector Telfer said police are now searching the bedroom where the individual was located for anything that could cause harm to the public or police.
