The health district urged people who had returned from overseas or have come in contact with a confirmed case and are showing symptoms within 14 days including fever, sore throat, dry cough and shortness of breath to seek medical advice.
"Call the free-call coronavirus hotline 1800 022 222 and receive advice on the best course of action depending on their symptoms and risks," the health district stated.
"Medical staff will direct people to the nearest hospital or respiratory clinic, or advise them to stay home and self-monitor, or contact their GP.
"Or Contact your GP to arrange an appointment. Let the GP practice know in advance if you have symptoms."
People needing advice about testing can also call the Murrumbidgee COVID-19 Hotline on 1800 831 099 for assessment between 7am and 11pm.
The health district advised that people without symptoms do not need to be tested.
"If you meet the criteria for testing, an appointment will be arranged for you to have a swab taken," the health district said in statement.
"MLHD has established two Testing Clinics in Griffith and in Wagga to enable people who meet the eligibility criteria to be tested.
"The COVID-19 Testing Clinics are for those most at risk with respiratory symptoms or fever, those returning from overseas or in contact with a COVID-19 case, or people like our health workers or vulnerable populations.
"More clinics will be established at other locations across the District over the coming weeks. Samples for testing can also be taken directly by GPs or your GP may refer to a private testing facility."
