Emergency services were called to Tongaboo Lane, which runs parallel to Baylis and Peter streets, about 2.35pm following reports of a crash involving two cars.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said two people were assessed by paramedics at the scene, including one driver who was trapped in a vehicle for a short time.
Firefighters from the Turvey Park station were called in to help free the trapped driver after one of the cars was pushed into the fence of the William Farrer Hotel car park.
Turvey Park Fire and Rescue NSW station officer Dean Wellfare said firefighters had to cut a section of the fence away so paramedics could open the driver's side door and gain access.
"We removed the security fencing to make access for the ambos easier and so the patient removal was a lot clearer and easier for them," Mr Wellfare said.
"We were able to use our hand tools to remove the fence."
Mr Wellfare said fire protection was also put in place as a precaution.
The NSW Ambulance spokesman said a 36-year-old man, the trapped driver, was taken to Wagga Base Hospital with a chest injury and suffering shoulder pain.
A woman, aged 42, was treated by paramedics at the scene for a hand injury.
