PGA tournament coordinator Peter Welden is confident the re-scheduling of the Wagga pro-am won't affect its ability to still attract a top quality field.

The tournament was due to host a "NSW Open-strength field" at Wagga Country Club from March 26-27, but with up to 700 visitors expected it has been postponed due to the coronavirus threat.
It boasts $40,000 in prizemoney, more than any other pro-am in the state.
"The Wagga event has grown to the point that it's recognised all across Australia and I would expect any time we do schedule it, even if it's around a tour event or not, that it will still attract that type of field given the status it's now got," Welden said.
"We've got a lot of events which will probably follow suit (by postponing) in the next week, but we'll make sure we can position it somewhere where it deserves to be.
"It's one of the best fields we get for the pro-am series across Australia. the key for us is to put it on a time where we can do that."
Wagga Pro-Am chairman Ashley Briggs believes the possibility of the event being rescheduled until spring could open up a chance to attract even bigger names to the tournament.
"It just boiled down to being a decision we had to make," Briggs said.
"We usually have 600 to 700 visitors, members and spectators, there's usually 200 at the dinner the night before, it's just too many people and not safe.
"I think what they'll do is they'll give us a spring event that will lob somewhere near the summer of golf, and from the country club's perspective we're more than happy to run it in the spring.
"It was a NSW Open-strength field we had for next week, it was our strongest field ever. If we can line the pro am close to the Aussie or NSW Open, we might even be able to attract an international player."
