Fabian Clarke told The Daily Advertiser he was home at the time when a man entered his house through the dining room window.
"I was on my laptop in the next room but I didn't hear a thing," he said.
"We've got two dogs as well and they didn't even react."
Mr Clarke woke on Sunday morning to find two sets of car and house keys, and two wallets missing.
"They'd taken the whole bowl that the keys and wallets sit in, that's how I noticed they were missing," he said.
"But they were kind enough to leave the bowl on the porch for me at least."
The incident was caught on Mr Clarke's security camera, pinpointing the break in to 2.10am.
As a result, he and his housemate have had to get the locks changed on the home, cancel credit cards and organise new locks for their vehicles.
"Unfortunately for my housemate, they took all his keys and wallet, but they at least left me with a spare car key so I can get around," Mr Clarke said.
"It's already cost him $350 to change the locks in his car and cost me the same for mine, plus another $150 or so to get the house locks changed."
Mr Clarke said he and his housemate are having to take it in turns on who leaves the house.
"We have to make sure someone is always home now for a while so we've been taking it in shifts," he said.
The incident was reported to police, according to Mr Clarke.
