Kirstie Brown was visiting the Victoria Memorial Gardens on Monday when her three-year-old daughter Denver found copy of the mystery novel Paper Towns at the Chisholm Fountain.
"We went for a walk to grab a coffee and Denver went straight over to look at the fountain and found the book," Kirstie said.
"She said 'Look, look Mum it's a book'. It was quite cute, actually.
"It was really nice and unexpected. It was a beautifully packaged up with a little tag saying 'free book'."
The books include a bookmark urging the finder to visit the group's Instagram account.
MS Brown said she would try to find time to read a copy of the mystery novel 'Paper Towns'.
Group founder Georgia Briggs, originally from Wagga, said the city had been one of the charity's most successful locations for its aim to encourage gift giving and reading.
"I have been trying to get as many people involved as possible and Wagga has been one of the places we branched out into," Ms Briggs said.
"The charity is very simple: lots of people have second-hand books that are in excellent nick but they are probably not going to read them again."
