The event, organised by South Wagga Apex, brings families, friends and people of all ages down to the water's edge for a morning of fishing.

South Wagga Apex member Mathew Longmore holds high hopes that recent rain will work in their favour.

"Usually keen fishermen say a bit of water in the system creates some activity and gets the fish waking up and going again so we're hoping the rain will make for some perfect conditions this weekend," he said.

After the club's recent Mighty Murrumbidgee Duck Race replaced the Gumi Festival, the Fisherama will act as another family friendly community event, according to Mr Longmore.

"Our club is all about family activities, we want to get families and kids out for a day of fun and fishing is a great way to do that," he said.

In the past, the event has seen upwards of 400 people in attendance.

"We hope to see around 200 to 400 people come down this time around, or at least 100 families," Mr Longmore said.

Each year Compleat Anglers sponsors the event, meaning more than $1000 worth of prizes are up for grabs.

"They always give out a lot of prizes like rods and sample bags throughout the day and you don't have to catch a fish to win," Mr Longmore said.

Fisherama will be held on Sunday on the corner of The Esplanade and Best Street where attendees can register.
