Wagga will soon be swarming with '70s-style haircuts as people prepare for new a mullet competition.
The William Farrer Hotel has announced plans to rank the city's mullets - from best female mullet to junior, senior and master mullet.
For Wagga man Tim Lane, this is not his first rodeo.
Mr Lane took out gold recently at the Summernats Car Festival equivalent, sporting a Victoria Bitter logo shaved onto the side of his head and a flowing mullet.
"It started as a bit of a joke, me and a few friends always go to Summernats and take cars to show, then we saw there was a mullet competition and I already had a bit of a mullet going on so made the joke that I'd win the competition the next year, and I did," he said.
"One of my friend's partner is a hairdresser, so without the help of Katie Smallmon's styling I wouldn't have won the competition."
While the 33-year-old won't have the VB logo this time, he does have a few ideas in mind for the Farrer competition.
"I have a few things I'm thinking of doing but it will be a surprise," he said.
Mr Lane had a few words of advice for fellow mullet growers.
"Don't grow it too long, and keep a little bit of hair on top," he said.
"Definitely don't go for the nontraditional skullet either."
Farrer owner David Barnhill said the competition had gained plenty of traction online.
"There will be some interesting sights, that's for sure," he said.
The mullet competition will be held on March 21 at the William Farrer Hotel.
