The five-day-old baby was found unresponsive at a home in Leeton just after 6.30pm on Friday.
Emergency services attended and tried to revive the child through CPR, however despite their efforts the baby died at the scene.
In other news
Murrumbidgee Police District investigators are now looking into the tragedy.
They are awaiting the results of a post-mortem to determine the cause of the child's death.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
