On Monday Wagga's promising freshmen unloaded their luggage, moved into student accommodation, and began their new lives as university students.

One of them was Ninoska Birchall, who is studying animal science in order to fulfill her life-long dream of becoming a vet.

"I've grown up in a rural town and my grandparents had a farm, so I've worked with animals my whole life," Miss Birchall said.

She's not the only one who'll be following in her family's footsteps; Alex Mott is studying a teaching degree, joining the ranks of his dad, mum, and sisters who all became teachers before him.

He's also taught rugby as a team coach, and he's hoping to use his teaching skills as an English teacher one day.

"Most of my inspiration came from coaching rugby, and watching my family enjoy their careers made me want to go down this path," Mr Mott said.

Mr Mott is planning on taking a break from rugby, and he's instead looking forward to signing onto the university's AFL team.

Meanwhile Harrison Collis Oates is planning to go in a more artsy direction by joining the university's theatre club.

Mr Collis Oats is studying a bachelor of creative industries and would one day like to shine on stage as a professional actor.

"I've always loved acting and grew up watching plays and films, and I've always admired what people can do," Mr Collis Oats said.

"I've grown up in an artsy environment and that's been chiseled into me. I come from an artsy family."
