Vehicles came to stop at the traffic light intersection of Edward and Tarcutta streets with motorists travelling towards the city centre via Lake Albert Road coming to a halt as far back as the traffic lights at Copland Street.
Meanwhile, Transport NSW live traffic map showed congestion on appraoch to the Pearson Street roundabout during the morning peak.
The congestion comes four days after the closure of Eunony Bridge.
Wagga City Council had warned the intersection would be problematic following the closure of Eunony Bridge.
