IT HAS been a revolving door of restaurants, but now the vacant shopfront at the highway end of Baylis could soon become a new gym.
The Hiit Republic fitness centre will be one of more than 30 gyms in the city with plans to move into the former venue of Greek on Baylis, Zen X and Blu Flame.
Hiit Republic's owner and operator Viva Leisure's managing director and chief executive Harry Konstantinou said he was excited about the opportunity to launch the fitness centre in the city.
"Wagga adds to the continual growth of Hiit Republic, with more sites set to open across the country in 2020," he said.
"One of the most convenient features of our gyms is that they are open 24-hours, seven days a week. Members can use our facilities and fully custom, top-of-the-range equipment whenever they want."

The Viva Leisure franchise also operates Club Lime on Dobney Avenue. He said existing members will have a membership option that allows them to visit both fitness facilities.
Raine and Horne director Craig Tait said it was obvious that food retailers struggled to keep their doors open at the location.
So rather than search for another restaurateur, he said the owner decided to open the site to other types of businesses.
"The new business loved the exposure and the location on the highway and that it will be the first business when people hit town," he said.
However it could still be a few months away from opening, he said.
Viva Leisure has lodged a development application with Wagga City Council to prepare the location for its intended use.
The application's environmental impact statement stated the 24-hour fitness centre has five designated car parking spaces, but believes there will be "extensive public car parking available" in close proximity to the site.
It also predicted peak usage time will be outside commercial business hours, from 5.30am to 7.30am and 5pm to 7pm on Monday to Friday.
"During peak class times, the maximum number of members participating at any one time will be 35," the statement said.
"There is various street/kerb parking located around the proposed Hiit Republic."
It emphasised that the location was ideal given its position in a commercial precinct and proximity to another fitness centre, Anytime Fitness.
