Over the coming months, hundreds of locals will read the same novel and then spend an evening with the author at a dinner in May. This year's novel is Charlotte Wood's The Weekend.
The Weekend is about three friends - women in their 70s - who spend three days together over Christmas, de-cluttering the beach house of a fourth friend who has died. While sorting through possessions, the women have to deal with buried conflicts, secrets, and an ageing labradoodle.
In its seventh year, One Book One Wagga has featured writers such as Chris Hammer (Scrublands, 2019), Michelle de Kretser (The Life to Come, 2018) and Liane Moriarty (Truly Madly Guilty, 2017). Many of these titles have gone on to win major awards.
Dozens of copies of The Weekend are now waiting at the library. Membership is free.
