The program, Song Sisters, is asking women aged 12-25 to send in an audition tape of an original song, which will be narrowed down to produce a collection of 10 soundtracks.
Sound engineer Tara Jensen of TAJ Productions will be in charge of recording and producing the final 10 tracks chosen.
"I do hope there will be a variety in genres and sounds we get sent through to showcase what Wagga's young women have to offer," she said.
Learner support coordinator at Riverina Community College, Cheryl Cartwright, said securing the grant "all sort of fell into place".
"I'd been speaking with people like Vanessa Jennings from council and Carissa Campbell from the Civic theatre, and we had wanted to find a way to combine our resources in an exciting way and then Phoebe from CreateNSW told us about this so it worked really well," she said.
"I'd also only met Tara a few weeks before so I knew we had the perfect talent available here to pull it all together."
Submissions can be sent to songsisters2020@gmail.com, closing by Friday, February 14.
