Henery was part of Tigers premierships in 2018 and 2015 but has elected to leave his hometown club to join their Group Nine rivals.
After having a year off football last season, the 24-year-old was expected to rejoin Gundagai this year before the change of heart.
Instead Henery is now looking forward to a different challenge at his new club.
"I had a year off last year and I was pretty keen to do something else," Henery said. "I've won a couple of premierships with the Tigers pretty early on, which was good, but I thought I'd try something different and the opportunity came up.
"I knew a few boys over there so it has worked out pretty well."
Using last year as a chance to refresh, Henery is looking forward to getting back into league.
However the front rower admitted it was a tough decision to leave the Tigers.
"It was (hard) and I ummed and ahhed for a fair while but I thought it was time to do something different," Henery said.

Kangaroos president Peter Hurst is thrilled to Henery on board.
Although he's not yet turned 25, Hurst expects Henery will bring plenty of experience to the Wagga side.
"He'll fill a bit of a void there and being a little bit older, as we have such a young cohort, I think he will do well there," Hurst said.
"He'll mentor those boys and a bit of leadership will be good for us.
"We've got a lot of boys coming out of the 19s who we want to give a bit of a pathway to so I think he will be really good for them."
It adds to a big recruitment stage for Kangaroos who have added Hayden Murphy, Eddie Lagaali and now Henery in the past week.
With fellow newcomer Craig Field and new coach Hayden Ashcroft, Kangaroos are developing a formidable forward pack.
However club is still on the lookout for a halfback to help guide the team around the paddock.
"He's a good addition for us and we're really happy," Hurst said. "We want to develop the talent we have there but to have a marquee halfback would be great."
